Today we saw Marathon and Thunder Bay. Marathon was a nice little town. We saw the house mom lived in, and talked to some cute girls at the museum. Every store in town seems absolutely full of emloployees and empty of customers.
Thunder Bay is old like Bellingham, but not cool like Bellingham. Stark contrast to Sault-Ste Marie. Pretty rough town, except for the bougie quarter which is laughably bad. Best thing about thunder bay is Hoito – a cooperative restaurant in the Labour Temple built by radical anarchist finns who moved here in the 1910s and 20s. Unfortunately, most connections to that labour history are at least superficially ignored.
Tonight we hope to make it to a campsite within a half days drive of Winterpeg.
