Ken Rockwell runs an excellent photo gear review site. It’s the best because while he’s himself an uber-nerd about equipment, he recognizes at the same time that equipment doesn’t really matter, and that photography is about images rather than cameras.
He is currently hosting a photo contest, sponsored by Adorama. The prize is a tablet computer, and it is open to anyone who lives in a country where Adorama ships to. You can only enter one photo – which is good, because it forces you to pick a single striking shot. I picked the shot posted below, both for aesthetic and political reasons.
The contest works in two stages: between now and March 29th photos are ranked by how many votes they get. So, in essence, it’s a big popularity contest. After that, Ken will take the top 25 voted photos and judge between them to pick the most striking image.
